An applicant must apply to the Certification Program within five years of completing Conflict Coaching and Mediation Training.
Once the application is accepted the applicant has one year to enroll in the Certification Program.
From the date of enrollment in the Certification Program, the candidate will have three years to complete all of their requirements. The Certification Program requirements are:
Certification Training:
Attend a three-day Certification Training event. This training is held twice a year, once in the spring and once at pre-conference.
Advanced Training/Continuing Education:
Obtain ten hours of advanced training/continuing education per year with a minimum of twenty hours to graduate. Hours can be obtained by:
– attending Peacemaker Ministries annual conference and attending advanced training workshops (a list of qualifying workshops are available at the conference)
– attending Advanced Training events (i.e., Reconciling Marital Conflict, Reconciling Church Conflict, Case Administration, etc)
– reading approved advanced training books (listed on the web site under the Training & Events tab)
– listening to advanced training audios (listed on the web site under the Training & Events tab)
Case Work:
Conciliate five Independent Experience cases worth a minimum of 25 hours. Independent cases can be conflict coaching, mediation or arbitration.
– Obtain evaluations from the parties in a minimum of two of the cases. In adherence to the Standard of Conduct for Christian Conciliators number 3-L, “The Christian conciliator shall encourage the parties to frankly evaluate his or her performance as a conciliator.”
Conciliate a minimum of five Supervised Experience cases worth a minimum of 25 hours. Supervised cases must be meditations or arbitrations.
– Obtain evaluations from the parties in a minimum of two of the cases.
– Act as the lead conciliator in at least two of the supervised cases.
– Complete the intake in at least two of the supervised cases.
All case reports are to be submitted within thirty days of completing the case to the candidates Certification Coach for written or verbal feedback and approval.
Teaching:
Teach peacemaking at least once during the enrollment period.
